Quote of The Day

You live and learn. At any rate, you live.

Douglas Adams

Act As If

Act as if what you intend to manifest in life is already a reality. Eliminate thoughts of conditions, limitations, or the possibility of it not manifesting. If left undisturbed in your mind and in the mind of intention simultaneously, it will germinate into reality in the physical world.

Take No Offense

That which offends you only weakens you. Being offended creates the same destructive energy that offended you in the first place—so transcend your ego and stay in peace.

...And 31 is ANCIENT

As a youngster, my mom would often ask me how old is OLD? I would always say that an age higher than her was old...

One day, right after she had just turned 31, we had an argument about SOMETHING stupid (as they all are, right?) and I spun around and told her "29 is old...31 is ANCIENT!"

Well, now it's "proven" that I was right, as a wee little 6 years old...

Chocolate Cherry Cordial Cake

I figured I could share this on my public blog... Last weekend, after a week of eating healthy, my boyfriend was craving some chocolate cake. He asked me what was for dessert, not knowing that I had a few cake mixes in his pantry, I asked him what he wanted. He told me (expecting me to tell him he was crazy, I guess) that he wanted a chocolate cake. I advised him I had yellow, lemon and vanilla cake mixes, but that I had cocoa powder, so I could turn one of the plain cakes into chocolate. He was ok with that...Then he tells me "Wait, I want chocolate cherry cake." I knew I didn't have any cherries, but that he had given me all of his candies and things so that he wouldn't want to snack on the sweets during the week. I happened to have a box of chocolate covered cherries in the car.

So, a new cake was created. I'm sure that someone, somewhere has come up with this already, but I thought it was pretty creative for me to come up with this on the spot... So without further ado, I give you Chocolate Cherry Cordial Cake:

1 box vanilla cake mix - follow directions on box
1 box of chocolate covered cherries
a couple of tbsps of Ghiradelli unsweetened cocoa powder
Chocolate chips

(for the frosting)
Powdered sugar
milk
butter (2 sticks)
cocoa powder
vanilla

Mix the cake mix per the instructions on the box. Add in cocoa powder to desired flavor. Pour into cake pan. Randomly drop all of the chocolate covered cherries onto the top of the cake mix. Where there are no cherries, sprinkle the chocolate chips. Bake per the instructions on the box.

While the cake is baking, soften the butter, mix in powdered sugar, milk & vanilla, and cocoa powder. add ingredients to taste (I don't measure... He doesn't even have a measuring spoon set!) Set aside until cake is finished.

Normally I don't frost a cake until the cake is fully cooled, but he wouldn't have anything to do with waiting any longer. I stuck it in the freezer for a good 15 minutes, and that was as long as he would give me to get to eat it.

Cover the cake with the frosting. I keep the cake in the refrigerator even after it's been cut into, just because of the milk in the frosting.

It was an instant hit. We took it over to another friend's house for the football games/motocross race on Sunday and it was gone within minutes. You won't be disappointed. S did say the only thing that would have made it better (besides bacon... oy) is that if it was all made with dark chocolate cake mix and dark chocolate frosting...(Which he, after seeing me spend an extra 10 minutes in the kitchen after the cake went into the oven, asked me where I got the frosting from. When I told him I made it (again) he was awestruck. C'mon, frosting isn't that hard!!!

Friends Are Friends Forever

I was browsing through random blogs via people's blogrolls, and found this song that rushed back into my mind after years of not hearing it.

This was a big graduation song for people in the Church family when I was in HS...

Friends Are Friends Forever by Michael W. Smith

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
I can't believe the hopes He's granted
Means a chapter of your life is through

But we'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

And with the faith and love God's given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you live in
Is the strength that now you show

We'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

To live as friends

Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

No a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

The Shit has Hitteth the....

...The Powerlines...?

A giant inflatable dog turd brought down a power line after being blown away from a Swiss museum.

The artwork, entitled Complex Shit, was carried 200 metres on the night of 31 July, reportedly breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again.

Love....

If you don’t love yourself, nobody else will. Not only that—you won’t be good at loving anyone else. Loving starts with the self.

The Warren Brothers - WHERE DID I GO RIGHT Lyrics

We all make decisions, and some you've got to live with
And some you just pretend they don't exist
Me I've made some bad ones, in the name of havin' fun
You pay the price it's just the way it is
When I look back on my life I think
Where did I go right?

I've never been to prison, but sometimes the way I'm livin'
Feels like a cage is wrapped around my soul
The problem of problems, sometimes you just can't solve them
And if you've never lived you'd never know
You're still here with me tonight
Where did I go right?

How'd I dodge the bullets, with my name on every one
When better man than me haven't had my love

Oh I've hurt the ones that love me, and love the ones that hurt me
I'm trying hard to be somebody else
Where the road was leading, it had no rhyme or reason
There were times I stopped believin' in myself
But I'm still singing here tonight,
Where did I go right?
Where did I go right?

I bolded those last bit of the lyrics, because that is me right about now.

I know that I said I wouldn't be putting anything "personal" in this public blog, however, I feel the need to expand a little on this, as there is a lot going on in my life that some of you may not know about. I believe in the power of positive thinking though, and know that there are many others of you out there that do so as well.

To not break my promise to myself about sharing personal details on this blog, I am just going to leave it at that, and ask that those of you who share the belief of positive thinking send some of those thoughts to my family and I, as we need it at this point in our lives.

Thank you!

What other people think of me is none of my business.

One of the highest places you can get to is to be independent of the good opinions of other people.

I fill myself with love, and I send that love out into the world. How others treat me is their path; how I react is mine.

Gosh there are all kinds of "Must see tv" Gems this week for me... :P

Tobacco and Tattoos = Good for you?

I was looking at the BBC headline news feeds...and saw an article about cancer cures and then linked another article about vaccines...

Tobacco as a cancer cure...

Vaccines delivered by Tattoo Needles

Hey why not? I mean, caffeine is a cause of migraines in a lot of people - yet is also a remedy for them...don't believe me? Take a look at the active ingredients in your friendly little bottle (or in my case extra-economy sized) bottle of Excedrin migraine...

So why shouldn't tobacco work as both a cause and a cure?
